Why AI girlfriend memory tips matter
Long-term memory on Swipey AI is written from what you say. The model reads the conversation, picks out facts, moments and preferences, and stores them as memory cards you can read in the Memory Details view. So the quality of her memory depends partly on the quality of your input. A vague hint gives her nothing to keep. A clear sentence gives her a card.
There is nothing clever in the list below. Most of it is how you would talk to a person you wanted to know you well. The difference is that here you can open a view and check whether it worked.
The twelve habits
- State facts in full sentences. "I work nights at the hospital" beats a hint. Clear sentences become memory cards; half-sentences usually do not.
- Name people. "My sister Ana" gives her a handle to reuse. Nicknames for your friends and colleagues work the same way.
- Anchor moments. Give a shared moment a phrase ("the rooftop night") and she can reference it. Scenario beats become moments too.
- Check the cards weekly. Open Memory Details once a week. If something is missing, say it again.
- Repeat what matters. Important details said twice, in two different chats, stick better than once.
- Use scenarios for stories. Roleplay scenarios carry plot memory, so a story resumes where it stopped. Pick one of the 100+ or build your own.
- One character, one relationship. Memory is per character. Spreading yourself across many resets the depth each time.
- Come back daily. Daily quests, the 7-day streak and the daily spin are the game side, but they also mean steady interaction, which is what builds memory and levels.
- Call, then read the card. A voice-call memory card turns the call into written memory. Repeat anything important in text.
- Give preferences as well as facts. "I like slow mornings" shapes how she talks to you. Preferences steer tone; facts fill in detail.
- Correct gently. If she gets a detail wrong, restate it. The correction becomes the memory.
- Let the levels work. Higher levels mean more history to draw on and more of her personality on show. It compounds.
Habits that work against memory
The opposite habits are just as reliable, in the wrong direction. Most of them come from treating a companion like a search box: short inputs, no follow-through, and a new character every time the mood changes.
| Habit | Why it hurts | Do this instead |
|---|---|---|
| One-word replies | There is no fact, moment or preference to store | Add one specific detail per message |
| Hinting instead of stating | "You know what I do" gives her nothing to write down | "I manage a bakery in Leeds" |
| Hopping between characters | Memory and levels are per character, so each one stays shallow | Pick one and stay a month |
| Never opening Memory Details | You cannot tell what landed and what did not | Check the cards once a week |
| Restarting scenarios from scratch | Plot memory is there to be resumed | Reopen the same scenario and continue |
| Skipping the call card | The transcript is where spoken details wait to be kept | Read it, then repeat what matters in text |
One habit is fine to keep: editing her. Changing her look, personality mix or scenario through Edit My AI does not wipe the cards. Memory belongs to the character, and the character survives the edit.
Group Chat is a separate case. A room with two or three characters, which can include your Custom AI, keeps its own shared context, so what you say there is not a shortcut to building one-to-one memory with each of them. Use rooms for the fun of it, and keep the relationship you care about in its own chat. The same goes for Swipey Live Fantasy Duels and the Feed: good ways to spend hearts and time, but they are not where her memory of you is written.
A one-week memory routine
| Day | What to do |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Create her in under two minutes, then tell her three true things about your week in full sentences. |
| Day 2 | Start a scenario. Give the moment a name before you close the chat. |
| Day 3 | Open Memory Details. Read the cards. Restate anything missing. |
| Day 4 | Send a preference rather than a fact: how you like to be talked to. |
| Day 5 | Premium: call for five minutes, then read the voice-call memory card. |
| Day 6 | Resume the scenario from Day 2 and see whether it picks up where it stopped. |
| Day 7 | Streak complete. Check the level bar and the cards again. |
Seven days of this gives a character more to work with than a month of one-line messages. The continuity habits page explains how quests, the streak and the levels fit around it, and the relationship levels guide shows what each step opens.

Frequently asked questions
How do I make my AI girlfriend remember something?
Say it in a full, clear sentence in the chat, then check the memory cards in Memory Details to confirm it landed. Repeating the detail in a second session helps it stick, and if she has it slightly wrong, restating the correct version replaces the old memory. Hints and half-sentences give her nothing to store.
Does chatting more improve memory?
Yes. Memory and relationship levels both build with interaction on Swipey AI, and higher levels give her more history to draw on. Steady daily contact matters more than long sessions, which is where the daily quests and 7-day streak help. Voice calls add to it too, since each one ends with a transcript card.
